I had a conversation with someone a while ago. He was so preoccupied with dodging failure that he was blind to the successes within his reach. After our conversation, he decided to shift gears, and there has been total transformation since then. Opportunities have opened up because he chose to change something within himself.
You see, we're all driven by two fundamental types of motivation. There is the 'Away From' Mindset and then there is the 'Towards' mindset.
The "Away From" mindset focuses on avoiding pain, failure, or discomfort. While it may seem protective, this mindset often creates limiting beliefs, erects barriers, and spins unhelpful narratives that hold us back from embracing life's opportunities.
The "Towards" however, mindset is all about chasing goals, dreams, and aspirations. It's the fuel for optimists who see the glass as half full and are excited by what could be.
So, here's my midweek challenge for you: Reflect on your mindset. Are you gravitating "Towards" your dreams or shying "Away" from your fears?
Your mindset can be a cage or a sanctuary. If you find that you are in the cage of fear, break free, and watch how your life changes.
Choose your mindset. It doesn't just shape your day; it shapes your entire life.
